[TheForge] tongs out of round stock?

One of the Blacksmith's Journal Videos includes this project.   The reins 
are drawn out from the round stock rather than welding on lighter 
stock.   Hofman explains that round stock is chosen because the hammer 
blows penetrate better than with sq stock.
