My TIG setup is on the low-budget side of the scale - a century=20
230AC/160DC buzz box, a standalone spark gap high freq. converter, and a=20=
torch w/regulator. No amp control while welding, but with practice I've=20=
learned to do steel, stainless, aluminium, titanium and bronze with this=20=
setup. I've had it about three years, and just this week was the first=20=
time I've thought about getting a new torch (stepped on the torch head). =
=20
You have to have DC current for all but the AL. I usually don't bother=20=
with the high frequency unit on steel because it overwhelms the radio. A=20=
decent 150amp tig torch kit should run about $100-$150.
You may be able to get an external rectifier for your buzz box, =
but=20
I'd probably just buy a new lincoln AC/DC unit.
