Dan,
Hacksaws have been around a long time. In the Mastermyr tool chest there was
a hacksaw. That find dates back to 900 - 1000 AD. Look in the Mastermyr book
for
precise information.  The basic design hasn't changed much, only the quality
of the blades have improved. :-)
