Does anyone have any heat-treat info for 416 stainless?
I've got a nice chunk that looks, according to the Machinery's handbook, like 51416 chrome-stainless. That puts it in the same class as 440C, just less carbon. It's also got an AMS 5610 designation, not 6150 or 5160 like I was hoping. If it is stainless, it sure is highly magnetic.
