[TheForge] water on the fire and how much fuel?

I do the same thing.
I sift my coal on a piece of =BD" building mesh in a frame. All that goes=
through the mesh (fines) is put into a 5 gal. bucket, and everything else=
is large enough to go into the forge as coal for the fire.
I mix the fines with water and pack them around existing fires where they=
coke up just fine. I do not use so much water on the fines added to the
fire that it runs into the firepot. I let the shovels of mix drain a
little against the pail before adding to the fire.
As mentioned earlier, water on a hot cast firepot will cause cracks.
This is the only moisture that goes on my fires.
