[TheForge] water on the fire and how much fuel?

Ted,
I too like to keep my coal watered. It does slow the burning and improve
the coke formation. I add water around the top of my coal mound whenever I
see fire beyond the limit of my working area. I've ever been burned by
steam.
The people that use powered blowers seem to break up their coke clusters
more than I do and don't seem to add water. That may be a necessity because
of the powered blower needing more fuel. Like Bill, I keep my fresh coal
high on the sides and push the whole pile in as I need more coke - only
breaking up the edges of the pile.
My coal has a good amount of fines and that seems to help fuse the coke
together.
Walt
