Walt,
I would say you need to reread those posted minutes as Motion 10 CLEARLY
(emphasis only) states that accepting the bid of Rob Edwards would result in
a savings! The 25,000 dollar figure was probably bantered about in the
meeting... but we may never know for sure, due to poor keeping of minutes.
This is assumed for total costs of publishing both magazines. If the real
result was a 6k increase (Georges figure) he may be right.
Another problem is that the President received correspondence form George
Dixon but claims to have used a "presidential perrogative" to not send any
copies to board members. There is no such "perrogative" all correspondence is
to go to the secretary and should be read or entered into the minutes of the
meeting. You cannot simply ignore the letters recieved because you want to.
The letters are the property of ABANA and not the Presidents. (I have
forgotten correspondence in the past and have been taken to task by my
members, and rightly so!)
">Look up Motion # 10. This is the publications vote in at the Summer
>conference board meeting. The vote occurred one-half year before Mr
>Fiorini accepted, and gave to Doug Learn, the bid package..."too late"
>for consideration.
----------
This was the vote on the publications and it doesn't appear that George was
being considered.... but read on. What is George saying? Is he saying he
was too late for consideration?"
First of all this was in reference to the bid of Jim McCarty not George
Dixon. Second there was some undisclosed discussion about the way the call
for editor was handled during Dorthy Steiglers report on publications but no
specifics. A review of the 1999 minutes yields no motion to put out bids for
the Publishing and editorship of the two ABANA publications.... so how was
this set up, and where are the records of the meetings in which dates and
methods of asking for bids are spelled out... this type of discussion is
supposed to be in these minutes. There are just whole comments and
discussions left out of these minutes. This is what informs those of us who
can't be there of what was going on, this is unsat.
Over all I would say there is much less smoke than George would have us
beleive, but this all seems to point up a terrible lack of accountability to
membership. I also would say that the handling of George's correspondence to
ABANA was unethical at least. This is not the way that the board of an
organization should treat a member...at all. Especially a member who has
contributed the way George has to the organization, shame on the board for
this.
