Having done that trick, being older and wiser, when I had to weld up the 
multiple  1" plates for my treadle hammer anvil, I put on a light ( it was 
hot) long sleeve cotton shirt, set the plates up nice and high , so I 
wouldn't have to stoop over for all that welding, and proceeded to dump 
about 15# of rod into the plates. Made the old welder sweat some.  Later 
that evening I had a single blister that covered the front of my chest.
Chalk up one more " Damn fool" on the list.
