Same here.
1969 No lights visible except the lighthouse, 20 miles away, and I had
no elctricity either.
1972 One mercury vapor streetlight visible, 10 miles away.
1980 I get electricity, but I can turn it off.
1990 Faint orange glow appears to the north on slightly misty nights,
as town of Bridgewater goes in big for sodium vapor.
1995 Highway guys remove a small hill to straighten road. Now I can
see my neighbor's porch light a few hundred yards away.
2001 Neighbor moves, new owner gets his own, personal sodium vapor
street ligh in his yard. Gak! There goes the neighborhood. And
the Milky Way, too, if it catches on.
You can see my neighborhood on the big photo: Locate Nova Scotia.
Halifax is the bright spot in the middle of the south shore. Second
litle dot to the southwest is Bridgewater. I'm in the dark just
southwest of that.
