I recall them used in auto engines from the 1930s era, but
am unaware that they are used any longer. They are heavy,
comparatively difficult to make, and hazardous when they fail.
They worked well in aircraft engines because those turn
relatively low revolutions, like 2000 as opposed to 15000
and more in some race engines.
