in my first shop(autobody)
I just buit a little 3x6 offset, sealed it up tight and went to work. It kept the dirt and overspray off the machinery and cut down on the noise.
i like that idea of connecting the compressor to the main light switch.
Don't know how cold will affect it. Doesn't take much to keep a small space above freezing though.
