Sure, I was part of a group of CBA smiths that ( pre striker) ordered 2
shipping containers of Anyang hammers. There were endless delays and
complications...was almost a year in coming.
Anyang has always responded to our emails with very nice
sentiments..courtly even...not much substance.
First, the motor starters were toys.
2 of 4 motors running went belly-up..and the pulleys seem to have been made
with 50 cycle electricity...so they tend to run fast ( of the ones tested
so far) The larger ( 165) hammers seem better made I'm told.
The dies, which were wonderfully cheap, all came soft. The machining on the
dovetails was inconsistent.
There is core sand still in the casting and there must be a cup of sand and
gravel in the bottom of the crankcase on mine..sticking on the walls too.
The linkage needs replacement, could be worse. Some other small problems
so far, mine's not running yet...the manual is hilarious .
Anyang expresses a great eagerness to help and does nothing.
Looking up at the bottom of the casting yesterday wasn't comforting.
When the problems are worked out, they are reported to be hard
hitting...mixed reports on control...parts are available for less than
modest prices apparently...in Red China. Getting them here also appears to
be way less than modest.
That's off the top of my head...perhaps we got what we paid for, It was
cheap...
Imagine ordering a power hammer from Harbor Fright and you will be pretty
close.
The cheap guy pays the most in the end, goes the old saw....guess that's me.
elaborate enough? Let me note that there are supposed to be several
factories making similar hammers, there are allegedly differences between
them. Communications seem to be difficult across the language
barrier...that difficulty may be selective.
Pete
