Dan,
At my first art show I sold nothing until the very end, a $50 lamp.  What
hurt the most is thinking my work was undesirable.  That was a long time
ago and now 85% of my work is for architects.  I love to have drawings to
work off and if any problems arise I can call the architect and get an
answer.  You will also find in the future they will rely on you for your
knowledge of metal and how to bring it together.  How to cut mass but
keep it strong.  What products are available to create a desired outcome.
 They will solicit  your sense of proportion and geometry.  You will
become the person they respect in the metal field and call for answers on
other projects that you have nothing to do with.  This job will lead to
other contacts and many rewarding and challenging works of art.  Thanks
