Well, I just checked at the Leather Factory, and a half a hide is $130. If you
feel that is less expensive than $70, by all means, buy one ;-)
I have been to several Leather Factory outlets, and the quality and prices I've
observed have been distinctly unimpressive, whether for leather or for tools.
Perhaps the one in San Antonio is better. I tend to doubt it, because I've seen,
for example, some of the tools they sell. I actually bought a couple of a
certain type because they were mis-shapen enough that they could function as an
entirely different custom tool ;-) Most of the leather I've observed has had a
distinct lack of quality- too many holes, poorly dyed, poorly graded, etc.
But, suit yourselves- they do have the advantage of having outlets all over the
place.
