[TheForge] traditional finish additives

I know the linseed oil /turps mix isnt really an outdoor finish but Ive made
a couple of nice gates for our home and Im thinking of trying the
traditional clear finish on them. I was thinking of adding a corrosion
inhibitor and a UV protectant to the mix, then doing the first coats without
the wax so they arent too pourous and doing the final coats with the wax
mixed in. I guess Id still have to recoat every couple of years or so. Or
could I just forget the additives and use a normal mix and recoat every 12
months or so like I heard used to be the normal practise by Yellin.
Any comments?
