Mata,
Several questions.
What does 1 part = in volume ( table spoon, pint. etc.)?
Did you use new boiled linseed oil? Raw won't polymerize.
Did you have your metal warm enough that it was uncomfortable to hold?
I use equal parts boiled linseed oil, turputine, and beeswax with about 1/4
cup of Japan dryer.
I think the beeswax is the most beneficial ingredient, but it needs the
turputine(synthetic turpentine)
to help it penetrate into the metal surface.
