I was talking about stick welders.  If you want to weld everything from 22 gauge to 1", I think you'd have to go with a high end wire feeder.  What I have is a Lincoln Idealarc 250 for stuff over 1/4" or so, and a small wire feeder for stuff under 1/4".  

If you just want one low end machine, you need to decide what the majority of your work would be for the welder.
