Mark, this might work...put warm, pliable modeling clay in your box.  Put
some cloth over the clay.  Press your knife into it until deep enough.  Let
clay cool.  Wella.

Only clay that I have ever worked with was ceramic clay. Does this modeling
clay harden? Is it like plaster of Paris? If so is it available at craft
stores?

Thanks....Seems a bit easier than the expanding foam that I and others were
kicking around.
