Two thoughts on jig saw for cutting metal.

1)  You can buy or build a table to hold your saw upside down and use that
(as suggested by Mike). Search for wood working jigs using your favourite
engine.

2)  On a hgtv show (can't remember which one) they showed a gentleman who
does sheetmetal work.  He had made a bracket to which he screwed in his
tablesaw in the upright position.  He used the mounting holes for the shoe
to hold his saw to the bracket.  A hole in the table underneath allowed the
blade free passage.  The table was big enough so he could manouver large
sheets through the saw blade.
