Thanks. I plan(ned) to drill and tap the posts from behind for attaching them
to the drawers.
Another alternative I've considered was to leave a shoulder on them, split the
ends and drive the ends back into the inside of the drawer front.
Only problem with that alternative is that the user is responsible for properly
aligning them so that the bail moves freely.

You could always rivet them. Make a square shouldered tang on the
posts,punch a square hole and pein over.
