There was an article in Home Shop Machinist years ago about machining 
your own cutting  torch for a panograph.   The design used commecial a 
tip (Smith), but included notes and suggestions for other brands.  The 
article is reprinted in Projects Five, available from Village Press

I helped a friend build his CNC plasma cutter, and looked at using this 
head for one of my own, since I was too cheap to buy a plasma cutter.   
I am currently rethinking the plasma cutter, though, since they are so 
damn handy.
