My thoughts on the Mark Krause Hammer:
Mark came here to see a Nazel torn down for a rebuild. He detailed the
machine and wrote his book . The book explains the valving and internal
passages.
Mark is an exceptionally good machinist. He was an apprentice at a
trade school and won awards in national competitions of makings parts in
short order. He had access to machine shop tools to make his test
hammer.
Basically he has the ability to make this kind of project look easy. I
am sure it is not so easy for most people.
Bob Smolen is a tool and die machinist and has the tools and ability
for this project.
I am sure that it can be done and the machine will run, but will it run
in a shop setting in production?
For a small self contained hammer, there are several new units that are
well priced- Tom Clark's Sahya-$8000., Brian Russell's Sahinler SM
34-$6500.00, Strikers STC-55 at $4500. Any of these will pay for
themselves in short order if you have the work.
