At His Shop: 11431 Old Elam Road, Balch Springs, TX
If you are going South on I-635 from Mesquite, Take Exit 1-B (Elam=20
Road Exit). Go to Right or back West to the 2nd 4-Way Stop Sign.=20
This Intersection is Elam Road and Peach Tree. Turn Right and go _=20
block (right behind the strip shopping center) on OLD Elam Road. 3rd=20
Mailbox on the left, and it is a blue metal building. If you are=20
coming in on I-20, go North on I-635 to Exit 1B (Elam Road Exit), and=20
turn left back under the freeway, and follow the same instructions as=20
above. If you are coming in from the South on EITHER I-35 or I-45,=20
take I-20 East to I-635 (it will say Mesquite), and follow the same=20
instructions for exiting. If you are coming from the North Side of=20
Dallas, GO South on I-635, and follow same instructions. AND IF YOU=20
SHOULD GET LOST, Call: 972-557-5778 (shop) or 972-285-1004 (home) or=20
469-693-2921 (Cell for Bill) or 469-693-2994 (Cell for Sharon).
Now, for the basic info: We will have a LOT OF FUN - Just a Beatin'=20
& Bangin'. Everybody is gonna demonstrate, and everybody is gonna=20
watch. We'll have several forges going, several anvils set up, and=20
anyone can play. We encourage you to bring 'Tail Gate Items' to Sell=20
if you want, You can bring your own forges, anvils, Hammers & Tongs.=20
We got folks coming from All Over. North Carolina (Paw-Paw), Virginia=20
(Jock Dempsey-Anvilfire Webmaster), Alabama, Louisiana, Oklahoma,=20
Missouri and a lot of Really Nice Texans. EVERYBODY from anywhere is=20
WELCOME!. (Buddy Leonard from Louisiana is Bringing up some of his=20
Pocahontas Coal to sell ($20/for 100# Sacks) - Best Coal we ever=20
used! Ya'll come, enjoy the fellowship, Bill will Show you some=20
Tricky Stuff, and Ya'll can show US some tricky stuff. Bill will be=20
playing his "How To Tapes" all day so if you want you can watch them!=20
And buy 1 too!
I am gonna cook a Lot of Food for Lunch on Saturday, and when it runs=20
out, well, I hope you'll all be full. We'll have Iced Tea, Iced=20
Water, Coffee, and Lemonade. If you want soft drinks or alcohol,=20
bring your own. There is NO CHARGE for this event. We just want a=20
bunch of Blacksmiths & families to come and enjoy the Fellowship. We=20
do accept and appreciate any contributions to the LUNCH Kitty, and=20
thank you for it.
(We live at 1134 Military Parkway- This is 4 Miles from shop.=20
Anybody is welcome to come to the house in the evenings for=20
fellowship. Wish I had room to put Everybody Up, but don't unless=20
you want to bring your own campers, or whatever, then we got plenty=20
of electric hookups and parking behind the house in my shop & garage=20
(broomshop) & the Boarding Stables! (Used to be Blacksmith shop!!)=20
Let me know if you want to camp out here. Tents will be OK too, but=20
remember (we got fire ants up here!!)

Freeway from us, and Mesquite's Biggest and Nicest Motel ($69. + Tax)=20
Regular Rooms - Not Suites-But it doesn't matter if it is single or=20
double -same price. They have Indoor Swimming Pool, Free Continental=20
Breakfast, Exercise Room and Cable TV. They say they have plenty of=20
Rooms.
**Holiday Inn Express- -972-288-9900 - Rodeo Drive & Hickory Tree=20
($89 + Tax) (This is not near as fancy as Hampton Inn, and costs $20=20
more??? They do have an indoor pool, and Continental Breakfast, +=20
Cable TV.
**Quality Inn -972-285-1500 - I-635 & Military Pkwy (New Motel Also,=20
but not as nice as Hampton Inn $69.99 + Tax for Double, and $64.99 +=20
Tax for Single) (On the other side of Super 8 & behind I-Hop Rest.)
**Super 8 Motel -972-239-5481- I-635 & Military Pkwy. (Older Motel -=20
Been here the longest - $61 + Tax Double & $54 + Tax Single) Right=20
behind I-Hop. Nothing Fancy, just handy.
*(Denotes Second Nearest)-Up on Exit past Military (Gross Road=20
Exit-On the Right behind Diamond Shamrock Station - These are=20
practically as close to our house as Other Motels!)
*Spanish Trails- -972-226-9800 - Second Oldest Motel in this Area.=20
$53 + Tax for one to 2 people - (This is for 1 or 2 beds) $59 for 3-4=20
people in room. (They have an outdoor pool and serve continental=20
breakfast in lobby).
*Comfort Inn- -972-235-5300 - Newer But New Motel Right next to=20
Spanish Trails, off I-635 & Gross ($64.95 Single & $74.95 Double???)=20
Have Indoor Pool and serve Continental Breakfast. (I didn't like the=20
(Foreign speaking person on the other line, but Hey, what do I=20
know???)
The Next Motels are 3 or more miles from house, but here they are:
Microtel- Off. Hwy 80 E (between Beltline & Galloway). Take the=20
Beltline Exit. Across the Freeway from Super Walmart (just in case=20
you wanted to know this)- (New Motel-972-2216-4418 $39.95 +tax=20
Single- $49.95 + tax Double) (Has a little caf=E9 next to it).
Days Inn-Off I-30 E & Beltline Road- (972-226-7632) (Not a New Motel,=20
but clean-have outdoor pool & continental breakfast) (This one is=20
furtherest from us, about 5 or 6 miles) (Rates: King size Bed for 1=20
or 2 adults: $$47.+Tax =3D $53.11 (If you have Triple A or AARP Card=20
then it is 10% less it is $43 + Tax) (If you want 2 full size beds:=20
price is $56.45 including tax if Triple A or AARP it is $50.80)=20
NOTE: This ought to give you some choices.
