Subject: Colnik collection update
Regarding the Colnik Collection for sale which is comprised of 288 original
sketches, 99 photographs, 135 blueprints, correspondence, diaries and
more........
Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum is seeking pledges to reach a goal of
$80,000.00 to purchase this collection to compliment the permanent Cyril
Colnik ironwork exhibit there.
So far we have had many ABANA members and two ABANA affiliates pledge
towards this effort! We have already several thousand dollars in pledges!
We still need your help to spread the word, and to make this purchase a
reality. If the museum obtains this collection, blacksmiths, designers,
fanciers, and future generations will be able to further their education of
Cyril Colnik, but also of the ironwork, business practice, and history of
Colnik's era.
At this time, Jim Temmer, Director of Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum
asks that you send no money or checks, but does ask for your pledge amount
accompanied by your name, address and phone number. His e-mail address is
[email protected]
There is a possibility of an auction to raise money as well. If an auction
is scheduled, I will let you know.
I would also like to emphasize that I have personally taken it upon myself
to help Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum with this campaign. I need
your help to spread the word so we can achieve the goal of purchasing this
all important collection.
It also appears that we may get an extension for a due date if Villa Terrace
can show an honest effort to raise the money. Because of this, your help is
essential. If you personally cannot afford a pledge, please pass on the
info to others who might help.....other smiths, ABANA affiliates,
institutions, and businesses.
Thanks to all who have shown support thus far. I will keep you
informed.......Dan Nauman, Kewaskum, WI
