Ray,

Thanks for the info.  It pretty much supports my thinking about the HP 
rating for compressors.  In the back of my head the thought kept rattling 
around that I could replace the motor on one of those small 2HP compressors 
with a 10HP motor and it wouldn't change anything other than my electric 
bill.  But I did realize that it might take a bigger motor to run a 
compressor with bigger cylinders or multiple staged compressor.  Sometimes 
the display unit at the stores make it near impossible to locate the cfm 
delivery information.  I liked Shannell's rough guestimate approach to get 
a feel for a given compressor, but it still leaves a pretty good sized 
margin for error.  But it just might get into the ball park.
