I have used lemons cut in half, with salt on the fruit-the citric acid =
cleans the surface and the salt is a mild abrasive.  This was on a bunch =
of brass chandeliers in a church that had smoke damage, don't know if it =
will work on outside exposed copper, but it's cheap, non toxic.
