I think 12" would be enough, I cant recall all my dimensions but mines
about 60% in 40% out at the bottom of stroke. Mine does move a little if Im
hitting in a way to put side loading on the dies, but its no problem at all.
There were some photos of my setup on the old photo site but thats gone now.
Ralph I put a slot in my guide and have a 2" ramp sticking through the
slot, my roller switches are on a slider I cobbled together from an old
printer, they have a spring tensioner to keep them where I put them. One
problem here is the switching time for a double pilot valve can be too
short, "stalling" the hammer by not giving enough of a pulse to switch the
valve when you are going full speed with the 2 rollers close together. Ive
nearly eliminated this by having minimum tubing from the rollers to the
valve and using small tubing which helps keep the signal quick. Also pay
attention to how you attach the ramp to the ram if you do it the same way I
did, Ive had a few problems with this breaking welds and loosening loctited
bolts.
