[TheForge] Damascus

Many people I know have no idea of the distinction between the two. If you
offer to sell them a "pattern welded blade" you will mostly get blank looks,
and a few SCAdians amoung them may say "Oh, like the Vikings used right?".
Mention Damascus steel and everyone will immediately flash on what is
"properly" termed pattern welded.

Certainly I see a lot more "Damasus" being opffered for sale at shows, in
catalogs etc, than "Pattern Welded" even if it is the same stuff.

I have also heard it put forth that real "Damascus" is actually properly
termed "Wootz steel". Just to confuse the issue further.
