I didn't realize that Photopoint was right here in my back yard.
Here's some gossip in the form of an anonymous post to hfx.general
(Halifax.general):

    Looks like the true colors of  PhotoPoint/Pantellic management team is
    finally showing through. They learned the hard way what everyone
    already knew: You just can't make enough money to support yourself by
    giving stuff away. Even though they started charging for the service,
    it was too late.

    So like they morons they are, they packed up shop and moved to
    Dartmouth to start another photo-sharing related company (Nova Media 
    Technologies)...will they
    ever learn?!?!?!

    They didn't even have the decency to let the photopoint members know
    so they could back-up their pictures. Of all the photo-sharing sites
    that went under, they were one of the few who didn't let their members
    know in advance...shame...shame

    They had to leave most of their stuff behind because Fortis (owners of
    the Martime Center on Barrington) wouldn't let them use the freight
    elevators because they knew they were trying to sneak away with assets
    that are rightfully owed to the creditors.

    And to think just one issue ago the owner was featured in Atlantic
    Progress for being such a swell guy and solid businessman, sound
    familiar?

DNS still lists all the photopoint hosts but the routing tables have
dropped them.  Looks pretty gone to me.  I'll have to ask around about
Dale Gass who I gather is (was) the CEO and head hacker.
