jeff,
most hot rolled "mild steel" is A36. most cold rolled "mild steel" is 1018. i think the term "mild steel" is out of use these days. at least when you're talking to a supplier. i doubt if you can even get A36 with a cold finish or 1018 with a hot finish.
otherwise the same grade steel in hot rolled or cold rolled would be the same composition except for the finish.
