Anyone know what the differences are between the Series II and Series III? I can see the Series III has a mirrored meter but not sure what other differences there may be. <snip>
Hi,
The 269 series 3 used standard banana plugs, the same as type 260 series 3, 4, 5, 6. Earlier type 269's used pin jacks.
Judging by my 1977 Newark catalog, the 269 series 3 scales
didn't change from the earlier series.
I have a Simpson 269 (first version, ca. 1957)
but must say I'm disappointed with the meter ballistics
- there is quite an overshoot when metering D.C. voltage.
My Triplett 630-NS (a selectable 100K or 200K Ohms per volt VOM)
does much better in that area.
The positive terminal of my Simpson 269 is the negative lead
for the Ohmmeter function. I don't know if they continued that
in later versions.

Ed Knobloch
