[Test-Equipment] Question about VTVM calibration

Calibrating our test equipment can be a real "rabbit hole" experience. However, most exotic approaches are more suitable for voltmeters whose nominal accuracy is measured in parts per million. For run of the mill meters like my HP 410C I bought a more expensive eBay calibrator (similar to that shown) which not only provides a reference DC voltage but also an accurate RMS AC voltage, as well as current and resistance standards. This still leaves some room for error since I have no precision high voltage calibrator or RF voltage calibrator. You can accumulate other calibrators and/or precision voltmeters which could be used to check the 410B, but each will have uncertain cal themselves. So I find myself with several voltmeters which kinda agree with each other, but offer no certainty. Fortunately, the spec on my VTVMs is only a few percent, so I can be pretty sure my 410C meets specs when compared to my .03% voltmeter, even if the .03% voltmeter may be out of cal.Have funEd W2EMN
