[Test-Equipment] What are "cathode jacks" on a tube tester?

The cathode jack's are one of the two sets of banana jack's that have jumpers at the top of the tester. One possible use is to insert a resistor to simulate using cathode bias.  FWIW, I've never found a need for this feature.

Guys,

I trying to troubleshoot a HICKOK 539x type tube tester and following some pointers being sent to
me by the pros at AWA.  The next test is to connect my VOM this way:

" set the selectors for a 6L6 leaving the the rest the same as out last test. Put 1 lead of your multimeter in one of the the cathode jacks at the top of the tester and the other in pin 3 of the octal socket with the meter set for 200 VDC. Remember count counterclockwise on the socket for pin 3. Now press P4 and do the same rotation on the VR knob. Your multimeter should now show the voltage that that we were looking for on the main meter.

My actual tester is a KS-15750-L1 which looks like the same.

Could he possibly be calling the pin straightener's 'cathode jacks' ??
