Hi Gary,
I remember seeing an ad somewhere for a person that repaired these units. I
will see if I can find out any info.

Very true Bill. I do that test with a metered HV power supply. I have one
of those Sencore units in the shop needing repair. The Sencore is supposed
to be a good one.
Thanks for your rant.

It will not give a true test of capacitor leakage as it does not generate
higher voltage for leakage tests. Unfortunately the Sencore units to my
knowledge are the only ones that test caps for leakage with voltage at the
caps specs. They are pricey on ebay but no more are being made. There is a
person that is rebuilding them and selling them. If you are serious about
repairs bite the bullet and pay the price.
Rant over.

I have one of the digital VICI DM-4070 units off eBay. They are selling for
less than $40. It was recommended to me by a good friend who is an
engineer. Check it out.

Thanks Dan. Looks like there are at least five different models of Sencore
testers (LC53, LC75, LC77, LC102 & LC103). I'll check it out.

Actual capacitance value and ESR I have covered. Electrolytics range from
10uF @ 15v to 4500uF @ 350v and 499,000uF @ 35v. Will also have some
electrostatic caps rated up to 1050v. The TO-6A is only good to about 600v
and is slow to charge really large caps. I've been told that several
thousand $ for a new piece of equipment is ok. I've seen some Chinese units
on the web but I've noticed that the panel lettering is in Chinese. I can
imagine what the manual is like. I'm thinking about calling engineering at a
cap company to find out what they use. Anyone here have suggestions?
