Mike,

If it has pin instead of banana jacks, it is I think an original Series 1.
On the later models, in small print near the bottom of the meter scale, you
will see "Series N", where "N" is a digit between 1 and I think 8,
sometimes followed by a letter "M" (Mirrowed) or "P" (Protected) or PM.. I am not
absolutely certain when the change from pin to banana jacks occurred but I
have never seen any evidence (either hardware or photos) where the panel has
pin jacks and the scale has "Series" on it. The earliest manual that I have
is on a Series 2, but I can't locate it. The Series 3 manual (which is
actually shown as Series III, not 3) has a photograph that shows that it has
banana jacks. I don't know whether on the scale is says Series 3 or Series III
but would guess the latter. TB 11-6625-2552-35 lists Simpson 260 and then
Simpson 260-3. So I only have a database entry to prove that there was a
Series 2 or II.
