Hello Richard,
~ Why do you need this specific oscillator?
Sorry for the confusion. I put (?) after the 200 because I couldn't remember
the letters that indicated the later models. I used one of the early HP
models when I was first testing guitar soundboards for their Q, and it was
remarkably stable. It was paired with one of the old HP counters with the
Lixi tube readout. It would keep the same frequency for the first four
places and the fifth place would move a notch or two every couple of
seconds---plenty accurate for my purposes.
As it turns out, I have a Heath function generator sitting on my "ham bench"
that I bought from Max Robinson. As the ham stuff is separate from the
guitar test stuff, I forgot that it might do the job. If it will put out
something as mundane as a sine wave at audio frequencies, I will use it for
my wood testing and "voicing" processes. That's just a convenience anyway,
as Spectra Plus gives me an accurate peak frequency reading of a resonance.
It's just easier to twist a knob than to be typing a number into the
computer.
Cheers,
Brian
