I have a B&K Mutual Conductance tube tester and I have a question or two and would like answers from someone who has a B&K 707 and is intimately familiar with the tube tester.
According to the stamp inside the case, my 707 was manufactured tested and inspected on January 4, 1962. I bought it used about 25 years ago after a hard life probably in a TV repair shop. I decided that after 52 years, that it needed the electrolytic capacitors replaced replaced and the components checked. All resistors were checked and checked out as very good and very close to specified value. I also replaced the 83 rectifier and the 6BN8 tube with new old stock tubes.
It works as it should except that the meter moves slightly back and forth while the test button is engaged. In other words, the needle does not remain steady and exhibits slight movement back and forth. Does anyone know it that is NORMAL? Any suggestions why this occurs?
Also the light indicating shorts stays lit full time during the test. I would appreciate input regarding the B&K 707 and your experience with the tester. Thank you for any and all input based on knowledge and experience with the B&K 707. Thanks and 73, John, K5PGW
