[Test-Equipment] HP54242A problem

I have an HP54242A, which is a 4 channel, 2 GSa/S, 500 MHz oscilloscope.  Upon power up every light on the front panel is energized and the fan runs.  But that's all it does.  There is no display and none of the buttons do anything.  I have no manual and ZERO experience with this fine instrument.  Suggestions?  I would like to obtain a service manual but haven't started a search yet so that is not a request for help.....yet.
