I would suggest posting your question on the Tektronix Yahoo
group. Also check completed auctions on eBay to see what Tek 500
series scopes have actually sold for. That would be your top dollar
figure. In the $100 and up category, I suggest you reform the
electrolytics, turn it on and see if it works, and probably clean
rotary switch contacts. I'm pretty sure you will need a working
scope for that price range. Also, consider the effort of packing the
scope so the package can be dropped chest-high to a concrete surface
and have the scope survive. The other alternative is a local swap
meet at a lower price. I have seen a number of posts where the
seller says he will put it on the curb, and if the prospective user
can beat the trash man, he is welcome to it.
