Dennis, I know you specified no shipping, but a Marconi 2022D is pretty compact and should hold up to the rigors of transit. Coverage is 10kHz to 1GHz. I'm not sure when mine was last calibrated but it matches up with my 2018, which got a thorough overhaul about two years ago. I'd let it go for $450 and maybe $25 as a share of shipping expenses. Interested?

Subject: [Test-Equipment] Signal Generator Wanted

Good morning all,

I would like to purchase a modern signal generator. The Model 80
has served me well but its time to get into at least into the 20th century.
  :)

I'd like an HP, though will consider other quality makes. Needs to cover at least 200 kc to 1Ghz...higher is better. Sweep is nice, but not required (have a 141T SA) Synthesized is probably required but would consider an exceptional 8640B with the doubler option (although the nylon gears kind of scare me). An 8642 with the 2.1Ghz option would really be nice, but may be out of my price range. As you noted of course must have calibrated output...50 ohms...the standard stuff for receiver evaluation, repair and alignment, among other things.

Price point needs to be around $600.

I'm in the Sacramento, CA area, and do not want to deal with shipping an instrument. I'm willing to drive a reasonable distance ("reasonable" to be defined with the seller)

I will be attending the Electronic Swap at DeAnza College in Cupertino this Saturday, and can arrange to pick something up then.

Thanks for the read, let me know if you have anything.

                    Dennis
