Thanks for the info.  The connector is
A military one about 1-1/2 inches, square and the grounded contact 
swings out of the way so it can be plugged into a standard  household
two pin AC socket. Is that the same connector you are referring to?

That is a common 3-pin connector made by Amphenol, Cannon, and others, used with many electronic items. Examples in house include the AN/URM-70 FM signal generator, the ME-31/U ammeter, and the Ballantine 1394 series thermal converters.
