All R-725's used new 1967 EAC R-390A units that were modified by Arvin and
Servo Corp; I dont know how many contracts were issued nor production
figurers; some rumors say 250. Used by a couple of agencies, including NASA
for direction finding and the CIA and the USN and possibly USAF for crypto.
My limited experience was with the USN version in the 70's while I was
assigned tender (A ship tied to a dock and supported by its decades of
coffee grounds; it did have to be pushed out into the bay and back yearly so
the crew could qualify for sea pay) ) overhaul duties during my yearly USNR
assignment. A friend has a prototype.
