Hi Carl, I have a street rod with a tunnel ram with 2 Holley 650 double pumpers.....
Last fall, I was tired of the leakage (typical) and decided to redo the whole fuel system.
I went to my local Advance Auto Parts and asked the young lady behind the counter if they had any Holley fuel bowl/metering block gaskets.
She just stood there looking at me, giving me the Homer Simpson blank look!
Too funny.....
The car has Brodix racing heads and I use Autolite Platinum plugs. Whenever I go to buy a set, I always try to get the youngest clerk available. I ask for the plugs by the Autolite part #. Instead, thay have to ask:

"What kind/year of car is it for?"
I say, "doesn't matter"
They insist, we HAVE to have that info"
me, "OK, it's a 1937 Plymouth with a 406 Chevy with Brodix heads"
blank stare.......Usually at this point the Mgr will help me.... ha ha

When I worked at the local Honda MC dealership a few hours/day (parts dept), we ALWAYS had guys come in and ask:
" I need plugs for my motorcycle"
me, "Make, year, and model"
dumb butt "don't matter, they're ALL the same"....swear to god.......
We actually had a banner made over the counter that stated:

NO, parts are NOT all the same"

ha ha

I responded earlier today directly to the gentleman that was looking to free up
some clock shafts.
I have always loved Kroil. It's amazing. Today, I received a very nice piece of
high end test equipment, Krohn-Hite.
Although it looks new, some of it's 14 knobs were VERY difficult to turn.
Fearing I'd break a knob. I was able to put a small vice-grip on the shaft of
one of the rotary switches, that would not move.
I started with a variety of lubes, it would barely move, so I got the Kroil out.
It was a little better, but not much. I then put a few drops of my favorite
solvent, Lacquer Thinner on the shaft. Immediately, it broke loose.
Maybe it was just timing, and the Kroil finally made it in, but I was very
surprised how fast this worked.

By the way, Kroil penetrates SO good, that some guys who shoot competition high
power rifles in competition, run a patch down the bore of the rifle during a
match. The Kroil gets beneath the fouling in the barrel and when a dry patch is
passed down the tube, they are ready to continue.......

I've been using Lacquer Thinner for decades. Still the best carburetor cleaner
in existence. Remember those???? ha ha

Hello Ron,

Lacquer thinner is pretty nasty stuff. See if acetone will do the same job;
it's very low toxicity. A friend of mine says that it's "mother's milk"
compared to lacquer thinner. Probably cheaper too.

Cheers,

Brian Burns

Kroil works well with black powder muzzle loaders also, keeps the bores so
clean at a shoot that the breakdown/complete cleaning at home requires
minimal effort.

I buy lacquer thinner by the 5 gal pail.

Carbs? I get a couple of calls to balance 2-3 carb setups on vintage hotrods
and muscle cars every driving season. Stromberg 97's, Ford/Holley 94's, and
Rochester 2G's. No foreign junk (-;
