[Test-Equipment] frozen shafts, etc

Hello Ron,
Lacquer thinner is pretty nasty stuff. See if acetone will do the same job;
it's very low toxicity. A friend of mine says that it's "mother's milk"
compared to lacquer thinner. Probably cheaper too.
Cheers,

I responded earlier today directly to the gentleman that was looking to free
up some clock shafts.
I have always loved Kroil. It's amazing. Today, I received a very nice piece
of high end test equipment, Krohn-Hite.
Although it looks new, some of it's 14 knobs were VERY difficult to turn.
Fearing I'd break a knob. I was able to put a small vice-grip on the shaft
of one of the rotary switches, that would not move.
I started with a variety of lubes, it would barely move, so I got the Kroil
out. It was a little better, but not much. I then put a few drops of my
favorite solvent, Lacquer Thinner on the shaft. Immediately, it broke loose.
Maybe it was just timing, and the Kroil finally made it in, but I was very
surprised how fast this worked.
By the way, Kroil penetrates SO good, that some guys who shoot competition
high power rifles in competition, run a patch down the bore of the rifle
during a match. The Kroil gets beneath the fouling in the barrel and when a
dry patch is passed down the tube, they are ready to continue.......
I've been using Lacquer Thinner for decades. Still the best carburetor
cleaner in existence. Remember those???? ha ha
