Gentlemen;

I have been reading the 'threads' with respect to performing measurements
using either a spectrum analyzer and/or network analyzer.
With respect to network analysis, between the frequency ranges of 100Khz
thru 108 Mhz, you may want to consider an old HP vector network analyzer
model number HP 8407A. This is the mainframe and when used in conjunction
with the Hp 8412a/B phase-magnitude display and the HP 8414a/b POLAR display
(Smith chart display) that plugs into the 8407a mainframe, one can perform
filter testing,tuned circuit alignment,antenna testing,VSWR, return loss
etc. etc. In addition you will need an HP 8601 signal generator/sweep
oscillator. Finally, you will need a power splitter for the same frequency range
and directional coupler; this is all available for under $450. If you want to
print/plot the output from the above devices in a chart format from EITHER
the HP 8412a or HP 8414A polar display, then use an old HP 7034a or HP
7035a X/Y  recorder.
The above two plug-in can also be used in the HP 8410A/B/C mainframe to
perform similar measurements from 110 Mhz thru 18 Ghz if you desire to operate
 in the VHF/UHF/microwave portion of the spectrum.
