Hi. I love the bantering on the lists. A week or so ago, I posted some info concerning lubrication technology, and newer FMs to both groups.

Don't understand why it was deleted (or otherwise never made it through)...
In any case, one thing I was speaking of, was Frequency Meters. Although I have many of the BC-221(X) FMs in my collection, I stumbled upon the FR-149/USM-159. These are VERY cool. In addition to being built like the proverbial 'battleship', they cover from 125KHz to 1GHz. Solid state, can run off of 6 'D' batteries, etc. The Manual is free on the www. I have purchased several. All are made by different 'vendors', but appear identical.
Yes, I understand gvt contracts....
Only one was complete with accessories, headphones, etc. Only one was missing the front cover. (wouldn't you LOVE to know where all these accessories/covers go??)
Several were missing the AN style AC power cord, which is easily fixed.

Performance? I have several TCXO based receivers in the radio room. I can dial up a frequency on the radios day after day, and flip the FM on and it is dead on, with zero warm-up. Pretty amazing for older technology.
These are available all the time on ePay, from 'cheap' to 'forgetttaa about it' pricing.

Look for a unit that has the cover and the calibration book. Just be aware they are pretty heavy. The dial resolution is flat amazing, (back-lit tape)....

Anyone that would care to discuss nano lubrication technology as it relates to older radios or firearms are encouraged to contact me off-list.

Have fun, life is short!
