Some older sig generators, like my old Leader LSG-16 (still in a NOS
condition) had
XTAL check facilities built in, with a XTAL socket on front panel for this.
These sometimes come up as inexpensive bargain purchases and might cost
u less than the parts
to make an activity checker    You need a receiver to "hear" the results
and the RX dial can tell you the XTAL
freq if reasonably calibrated
