Further to my last, there was no need to filter the pulsating dc
used as a source to measure "R", because the mechanical inertia 
of the dc panel meter would serve to filter out the ac component.
The pulsating dc would therefore do as well as pure dc
for this purpose, and is easy to get with a low source resistance,
just by rectifying a transformer output.
