Measuring both ESR and capactance at the same time gives more 
information than the ESR only meters.  For example see the repair of a 
Heathkit GC1000 Clock at: 
http://www.prc68.com/I/HeathkitGC1000.shtml#Rx   and scroll down looking 
for the tables on the right margin.

The top numbers in a box are the as received value and the bottom after 
the cap was replaced.
Green is in spec.  Red is out of spec.

An example of the value of the cap function is C301 which should be a 
100 uF cap but it measured 3.6 uF.
