[Test-Equipment] JERROLD FIELD STRENGTH METER

I bought a Jerrold FS meter at a hamfest (with my eyes wide open) and was
told "works ok, battery needs a charge".

This  i knew better as the original nicads were long gone.  Operating the
thing on an externall battery showed no life

excecpt a bit on the fm bcst  range. After a good cleaning of the
attenuator switches the fm area came to life.

Then the TV low area was tuned--nuttin.  Some one had been in the band
switch box as several screws were missing!

So now- shall I attempt to repair this or just put it back as was.?  I
want to use it for the vhf and uhf ham bands  

so I need some data such as circuit etc...   the unit is  JERROLD 727 FS
METER--------------

Can anyone help?
